I am a Director at Hancock & Hastings Limited, a certified FCCA practice with an Audit Certificate, providing comprehensive accounting and tax services to clients ranging from small sole traders to medium-sized limited companies. With over 20 years of experience in accounting and auditing, I hold a degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University and am a proud member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). My passion lies in helping businesses and individuals achieve their financial goals while navigating accounting and tax complexities.
If you're thinking about setting up your own practice then nothing beats hearing it from those who have already done it. James Goulsbra of GTA Accounting and myself both set up our own practices after working in practice for a number of years. In this podcast series, we talk about our respective journeys from picking a name for the practice to choosing the right software for our evolving needs.
This limited-edition podcast series is now available via the links below or find it on Apple podcasts or Spotify.
Building on the success of our "Bean Counter to Boss" podcast series on starting an accounting practice, we evolved into a video series. In this revamped format, we take a deeper dive into the inner workings of running a practice, offering you a behind-the-scenes look at how we operate.
I'm actively involved in the Ask The Accountant Podcast Network, a community that brings together accountants, bookkeepers, software providers and industry experts to share knowledge and discuss the future of the profession.
Through these platforms, I share practical insights from running a specialist audit firm whilst contributing to wider conversations around audit, compliance, technology and the future of accountancy.
I regularly attend and contribute to industry events, conferences and professional development sessions.
Recent involvement has included events such as Accountex and ACCA professional events focused on regulation, technology and the future of the profession.
These events provide valuable opportunities to connect with other accountants, exchange ideas and stay at the forefront of industry developments.

As a dedicated accounting professional, I’m passionate about contributing to the growth and innovation of our industry. Through various engagements and events, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with peers, shaping conversations, and driving change. Here are some of the highlights:
Attending the Intuit Accountants After Hours Network Event at West Ham United offered a unique opportunity to connect with industry leaders and fellow professionals. These events are a fantastic platform for discussing trends, sharing insights, and strengthening the QuickBooks community.
As a proud member of the QuickBooks Accountant Council, I have the chance to directly influence how QuickBooks develops its tools and resources. This role enables me to advocate for accountants and small business owners, ensuring their needs are at the forefront of innovation.
Through these engagements, my mission remains clear: to inspire, educate, and empower accountants and small business owners. Whether through networking, advocacy, or education, I aim to foster growth and innovation across the industry.
Stay tuned for updates on upcoming events, podcasts, and opportunities to connect. Together, we’re shaping the future of accounting and making a positive impact on the businesses we serve!
